Engineering Before Marketing
Many paddles are promoted with simple ratings such as Power 9.8, Spin 9.7, or Control 9.4.
While these ratings may help compare products, there is currently no universal industry standard for measuring many playing characteristics.
Power, control, spin, pop and forgiveness are influenced by both the paddle and the player using it.
For that reason, KOBO believes measurable engineering specifications should be presented as objective data, while playing characteristics should be explained through engineering and player interaction.
The Thunder AXE Engineering System
Triple Air Channel Technology
Three engineered airflow channels reduce aerodynamic drag and help the paddle move efficiently through the air. It makes the paddle quicker for you in fast rallys and fire fights at the kitchen line.
This contributes to faster racket-head speed while maintaining structural integrity.
Carbon Strip DuraCore Structure
Unlike conventional polypropylene core designs, Thunder AXE incorporates a unique Carbon Strip with injected foam Core Structure as part of its internal engineering.
Rather than relying on a single material or construction method, the Carbon Stripe Core Structure works together with the DuroCore 18 mm core, EVA perimeter foam and thermoformed unibody frame to create a distinctive combination of energy transfer, stability and player feedback.
This integrated structure is one of the defining technologies that gives Thunder AXE its unique playing characteristics.
Thermoformed Unibody Construction
The one-piece structure increases overall torsional stiffness and strength while improving energy transfer throughout the paddle.
DuroCore 18 mm Core
The thicker core provides enhanced dwell time, helping players execute controlled drops, resets and touch shots that the paddle absorbs hits well as it is slightly thicker, not that much , just enough to make a diffrence.
EVA Perimeter Foam
The perimeter foam improves stability during off-center impacts while contributing to a trampoline effect for power when you hi the Swet spot.

This characteristic is intentional. It is part of the engineering to help level you up to a better more consistant game .
Player Skill Influences Performance
No paddle performs exactly the same for every player. if you are an intermediate player it may take you time to adapt to the feel and characteristics of the THUNDER AXE
Developing Players 3.5
Players with compact swings or developing mechanics may notice excellent control and stability while gradually discovering additional power as their technique improves.
Intermediate Players 3.5-4.0
As mechanics become more efficient, players often experience easier depth, greater spin potential and more consistent offensive performance.
Advanced Players 4.5+
Players with higher racket-head speed and consistent center contact are able to access the paddle's maximum performance while maintaining precision and control.
The paddle remains the same. The player's ability to use it evolves.

Why does Thunder AXE seem more powerful for some players than others?
Power is influenced by both paddle engineering and player mechanics. Players with efficient stroke mechanics and consistent center contact are generally able to access more of the paddle's available performance. We know it has power when needed but you need to have the correct full swing dynamic to and hi the sweet spot consistently to tune into its power. it is not overly "Poppy" or pwerfull just enough when you need it like Turbo boost in a car when passing . you hit it when you need it.
Is Thunder AXE suitable for beginners?
No. the THUNDER AXE is designed for people who have been playing pickleball reguraly and have their basic strokes down and can hit consistently in the middle "Sweet spot" area of the paddle without hitting off center much. you must fel you are an intermediate player wanting to progess to advanced 3.5+ DUPR or tournament rated players
Why doesn't KOBO publish "Power 9.8"?
Many playing characteristics depend on both equipment and technique. Rather than assigning arbitrary numbers the THUNDER Axe has power for those players who now to hot the Sweet spot consistently to get the maximum trampoline effect out the Duracore core design.
