Why This Paddle Is Different
Most paddles follow traditional square designs. The Thunder AXE Infinity breaks the Status Quo on paddle design bringing new thinking for pickleball paddle design.
With a redesigned aerodynamic shape and triple air-channel system, it reduces drag and improves swing speed — giving you faster reactions and better control at the kitchen and mid court resets.
Spin Technology — SoftPlex Surface
The Thunder AXE uses our proprietary SoftPlex surface, designed to create a tactile “grip” on the ball rather than relying on a sand or particle grit that wears off very quickly.
Our Softplex rubbr surface allows the paddle to generate strong, consistent spin — similar to high-performance table tennis paddles — without surface wear over time.
Why the Thunder AXE Costs More
The Thunder AXE Infinity is built with advanced expensive materials like raw 3K carbon, 3X Superheated or thermoformed construction, and a hand sanded triple air-channel aerodynamic design. All the decals and trim are applied meticulously by hand. Not silkscreened or mass printed. Each paddle is built up and formed strip by strip of carbon around the core by hand. No edgeguards to fall off . We provide two clear protector tapes to protect your perfomance weapon.
Unlike many brands, KOBO invests in engineering and performance rather than expensive Pro endorsements — delivering next-generation performance where it matters most.

Three internal air channels redistribute impact energy, keep the paddle light, decrease drag and increase paddle speed during high-speed play.
How does the SoftPlex semi-transparent coating affect feel?
It softens impact and grips the ball for better feel, giving power shots control and touch shots precision.
Performance
Is the Thunder AXE Infinity a power or control paddle?
It's a true hybrid—engineered to deliver explosive power without sacrificing accuracy or forgiveness. In summary it's both a power and control paddle. It is not overly "Poppy" it will keep your balls in and not flying out.
How does aerodynamics improve on-court performance?
Reduced drag allows faster swing speed, quicker reactions at the net, and less weight and fatigue over long matches.
Spin & Touch
How does raw 3K carbon fiber improve spin?
Raw 3K carbon's weave maintains surface strength longer, producing consistent power throughout the life of the paddle.

Comparison
KOBO Thunder AXE Infinity vs. Selkirk TeslaPlaid
What's the difference between Thunder AXE Infinity and TeslaPlaid?
The Thunder AXE Infinity is built with a unibody thermoformed structure and an aerodynamic design with triple air channels, resulting in faster swing speed, lighter feel, and more consistent stability across the face. If a ball hits the air channel with the 3 flat bars in the air-channel, a ball hit in this area will still be able to be returned.
The Selkirk TeslaPlaid uses a traditional layered construction with a foam core and raw carbon surface with a large air-channel where if a ball hits it, it may mishit. It is known for strong spin performance. Its design is light and will need to have extra weight added.
Bottom line:
Thunder AXE Infinity favors speed, stability, and more functional futuristic aerodynamic shape and engineering.
TeslaPlaid favors traditional raw carbon spin with a clunkier Tesla truck hard lines design.
KOBO Thunder AXE Infinity vs. Selkirk BoomStik
How does Thunder AXE Infinity compare to the Selkirk BoomStik?
The Thunder AXE Infinity uses a unibody thermoformed construction, aerodynamic edgeless design, and three integrated air channels to reduce swing weight and improve hand speed and control.
The Selkirk BoomStik is built around Selkirk's BoomCore™ foam core with an EVA power ring, delivering explosive power and a large sweet spot. However, it does not use unibody thermoforming or an aerodynamic air-channel design. It has a wide plastic edgeguard that is publicly documented online to come loose easily after a short time of use.
Bottom line:
Thunder AXE Infinity delivers faster swing speed, refined control, and structural consistency.
BoomStik delivers foam-core power and a more explosive, power-forward response in a traditionally designed square shaped paddle with edgeguard.

Whether you own the Thunder AXE Infinity or another KOBO paddle, following these care recommendations will help ensure years of reliable play.
Before Every Match
Before stepping onto the court, take a few moments to inspect your paddle:
- Check the paddle face for cracks, chips or unusual damage.
- Ensure the edge protection tape is securely attached.
- Confirm the grip is clean, dry and firmly attached.
- If you notice unusual rattling, loose components or structural damage, discontinue use and contact KOBO Customer Support.
A quick inspection before every match helps identify potential issues early and keeps your paddle performing at its best.
Daily Care
After every playing session:
- Wipe the paddle face with a clean microfiber cloth to remove ball residue, dust and dirt.
- If necessary, lightly dampen the cloth with clean water.
- Dry the paddle completely before storing.
- Store the paddle inside the supplied KOBO paddle cover whenever it is not in use.
A few seconds of routine care after each game helps keep your paddle performing at its best.
Cleaning Your Paddle
The carbon fiber face requires very little maintenance.
For normal cleaning:
- Use a soft microfiber cloth.
- Use clean water or a paddle cleaner specifically designed for carbon fiber pickleball paddles.
- Dry the paddle completely before storing.
Never use:
- Magic Erasers
- Abrasive pads
- Steel wool
- Acetone
- Paint thinner
- Bleach
- Alcohol-based solvents
- Household cleaners containing harsh chemicals
These products can permanently damage the textured playing surface and decorative finish.
Carbon Fiber Face Care
The raw carbon fiber face is engineered to provide consistent spin and ball control. After normal play you may notice:
- Ball marks
- Light discoloration
- Surface polishing in high-contact areas
These are normal cosmetic signs of use and do not affect paddle performance.
Never sand, polish or refinish the hitting surface.
Protecting the Textured Surface
The textured carbon fiber surface is one of the most important performance features of your paddle. To preserve maximum spin:
- Never use abrasive cleaners.
- Never scrape the paddle face with hard objects.
- Never attempt to polish the hitting surface.
Proper cleaning is all that is required.
Edge Protection Tape
Every Thunder AXE includes two complimentary KOBO Edge Protection Tapes. The tape is designed to:
- Protect the paddle edge from cosmetic wear.
- Reduce damage caused by normal court contact.
- Help maintain the paddle's appearance.
Replace the tape whenever it becomes worn or damaged.
Important: Edge protection tape helps reduce cosmetic wear only. It cannot prevent damage caused by severe impacts, dropping the paddle or striking hard objects.
Edge protection tape is considered a consumable accessory and is not covered under warranty.
Paddle Cover
Every Thunder AXE includes a custom KOBO paddle cover. Always use the cover during storage and transportation. The cover helps protect against:
- Scratches
- Dust
- UV exposure
